For our winter issue, Twist Collective asked our contributors where they look for colour while the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun. Click on their images below for their answers, and for links to their individual websites.

In the winter, I seek out colour in the shadowed peaks of the snow, in the refracted light in icicles, and in the interesting contrast of the sharp silhouettes of naked trees against the gleaming winter sun. I break from my usual gravitation to earthy tones to consider the austerity of greys and violets, the chill of clean blues. When the glowering clouds become oppressive, I retreat to the warmth of my favourite tones of carmine, chestnut, pumpkin, in the hearty colours of roast dinner and homemade pie.
