Even in the winter, Oregon is a beautiful and lush place to be. The mountains may be white and stark, but the beaches are always a play of beiges, blues, greens, and yellow. In the evenings, I can don a fun dress and a comfortable pair of shoes, and make my way to a local salsa club, to see vivid colors and festive lights, with music that takes me as far away from winter's gloom as I can get, without a passing through a security check point.
