For our winter issue, Twist Collective asked our contributors where they look for colour while the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun. Click on their images below for their answers, and for links to their individual websites.

I admit that you do have to look a little harder for colour during the winter months but subtle shades can be just as interesting as the riot of colour found in the summer. Mostly I love the shadows cast on snow by trees and buildings; shades of blues, greys, and even purples set on a 'ground' of brilliant white, or yet more shades of grey if the snow isn't newly fallen. But if all else fails, I turn to my inspiration box where I keep photos and things gathered throughout the year for use during the fallow winter months.
