For our winter issue, Twist Collective asked our contributors where they look for colour while the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun. Click on their images below for their answers, and for links to their individual websites.

My sources of colour inspiration in the winter months come mainly from indoor sources. Eastern Canada is drained of outdoor colour for most of the winter months (apart from the odd chillingly cold days with full sun and blue skies, which bring to life the colour in the twigs and old leaves projecting from the snow). I look to quilt fabrics, ethnic rugs, paintings, my yarn stash and books on ceramics and travel to set me in motion.
