For our winter issue, Twist Collective asked our contributors where they look for colour while the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun. Click on their images below for their answers, and for links to their individual websites.

The landscapes of New York state and New England offer the quintessential color palette I think . . . hilly layers of smoke gray, slate blue, dark green, and many shades of brown, all softened by heavy winter skies and the feathering of bare tree branches. I could stare it that forever. Once in a while, a pop of cardinal red, or a bit of frosty blue-green in an ice floe adds a nice treat. I look to my stash of handspun natural wools and dyed neutrals to replicate those color stories.
