Year-round, I find nature's colors to be the most abundant source of inspiration; winter is no exception. Although the garden goes grey for the winter, an evergreen sprig on a sparkling blanket of snow can be as vivid and inspiring as the wildest blossoms of summer. Here on Long Island, the beach offers subtle shadings, wonderful textures and inspiring contrasts that just aren't fully appreciated until they're seen in winter's light. Then again, nothing brightens up NY slush better than technicolor hats and mittens!
