Twist Style Friday: Sugarbeach

Every Friday we feature one of the garments from the magazine in a post about styling. We suggest different ways to wear the garment in question using mock-ups from Polyvore. We encourage readers to tell us what they think about these outfits via our Facebook page or Twitter, and if folks want to make their own outfits, please tweet them at us with the hashtag #twiststyle. You can find all of the Style Friday posts here.

Happy Friday Twistfans! This weekend is World Pride in Toronto, which means there are a zillion folks in from out of town, and about forty parties to choose from on any given night of the weekend. Last night I got rockabillied up to see a very strange play (starring Canadian indie music darling Hawksley Workman) and then went to a country western dance party with a Dolly Parton drag-lookalike contest. My life is hilarious and fun. Me and my liver might be awful tired by the end of the weekend, but I think it's going to be a pretty great time.

Every year for Pride I get excited about getting dressed for things. As usual, the fashion is one of the most important parts. I plan my manicures around my outfits, wear an extreme quantity of animal print, and sometimes do something particularly loud to my hair. It took a few steps to get it there, but I want to all to know that at this precise moment, my hair is pretty much the exact color of this gorgeous sweater.

Last night it was swept into a funny pink pompadour. I wish you were all there; you should have seen my gold studded mini cowboy boots.

Enough about my hilarious clothes, let's take another look at Sugarbeach

Adorable, right? The ropy cables give it a little bit of a nautical feel, the neckline is super pretty, and the overall look is mad cute. I think it would be stunning in crisp white, or a beachy pale yellow. Why don't we take a gander at some outfit ideas, hm?

Three outfits with Sugarbeach. On the left, styled with jeans, grey tennis shoes, and a canvas backpack. center outfit is with a laser-cut necklace that reads "antagonist", a black miniskirt with sharks on it, and strappy platform shoes. on the left, with a long linen skirt, mint green gladiator sandals, and gold bangles.

That shark skirt called to me. It's a bit of an aggressive outfit, but I think there is a time and a place for that, you know? Whatever your style, Sugarbeach is a lovely addition to your summer wardrobe. Especially if you make her in a color that matches your hair. Just saying.
