1. Why are you a designer?
Designing is a bit like an obsession, no matter how hard you try not to do it you can’t stop. In fact not designing makes me miserable! When I started designing it was the first time in my life I was able to be both creative and mathematical at the same time. There aren’t many jobs like that out there.
2. What's your favorite design you did for Twist Collective and why?
I think Parcel is one of my favorites. It combines my love of design simplicity and clean lines with cables but worked in a very geometric way.
3. What is your worst knitting habit?
I hate, hate, hate ripping. I’ll do almost anything in my power to avoid it. Sometimes you can create clever fixes but other times you just same yourself a lot of grief if you just grab the end of the yarn and pull.
4. Tell us about a job you've had in the past that would amuse or surprise people who don't know you.
I don’t know how much it would surprise people but my first career was as a structural engineer. There has to be nothing stranger than being 3 months pregnant supervising a concrete pour in a high rise building while you get a lecture on the importance of nursing from the concrete boom operator.
5. Finish this sentence: If everyone knew how to knit...
the world would be a much softer, woollier place!
