Twist Style Friday: Rafters

Every Friday we feature one of the garments from the magazine in a post about styling. We suggest different ways to wear the garment in question using mock-ups from Polyvore. We encourage readers to tell us what they think about these outfits via our Facebook page or Twitter, and if folks want to make their own outfits, please tweet them at us with the hashtag #twiststyle. You can find all of the Style Friday posts here.

It has been a weird week in Toronto. We had record breaking hot weather in the middle of the week, and now it is decidedly grey and chilly out. It's hard to know how to dress in these in-between times. I've had a bit of a weird week myself; after a summer of starting a zillion knitting projects, I had the sudden urge to finish things. I've been sewing on buttons, weaving in ends, and fishing second sleeves. I got through the end bits of a lime green, cropped Pont Neuf (for me!), an adorable cabled cardigan for a toddler friend of mine, and a shawl for a surprise shawl swap I'm doing with a friend of mine who lives in Victoria, BC. It's Friday the 13 today, does that explain the weirds?

Now that I've moved a few things from the WIP list to the FO list, I can start more new projects! I haven't yet cast on for a project from the Fall issue, and one of the reasons is that I'm having a hard time choosing one to start with. From what I can gather, this one is on nearly everyone's list, and it's no wonder.

Rafters

Let's take a look at the back of this beauty too. Gosh.

Rafters back detail

This looks like a ton of fun to knit, and so so snuggly. I think I'd make mine in slate blue, or a really ketchup-y red. I would wear it over weird plaid dresses, a la Angela Chase, but I am weird and currently addicted to girly plaid things, so here are some other ideas.

Rafters can look woodsy, or sweet, or even kind of professional, depending on what else you wear it with. This is a gorgeous, versatile sweater, and I want you all to make one. Maybe two. Okay?

How will you wear Rafters?

indigodragonfly Giveaway

Today's giveaway is brought to you by indigodragonfly! (This is Carly speaking) I have to tell you, I fell in love with these yarns before I was even involved with Twist. Not only are they totally gorgeous, but the colorways are titled with nerdy pop culture references, like to Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, and Sesame Street.
