Construction Notes: This hat has a modular design. There is a choice of two different bands and two different closures charted. Band 1 is two-color reversible double-knitting, with a fleur-de-lis pattern on the North point of the compass. Band 2 is two-color two-pattern double-knitting, with letters on all four points, worked in two-pattern notation. The N and S are knit in mirror-image on the inside of the work and the E and the W switch places so that both sides of the hat are correctly-oriented compasses.
