Finished measurements: Child: 19 1/4” / 49 cm long at longest point and 7 1/2” / 19 cm at widest point. Information included for sizing up. Adult size can be also be achieved by using thicker yarn.
Yarn: Heart: 10 yd / 9 m worsted weight yarn in red.
Star: 17 1/2 yd / 16 m worsted weight yarn in yellow. Scarf: 70 yd / 64 m worsted weight yarn in pink or blue. Thicker yarn will yield a larger heart or star; thinner yarn will yield a smaller heart or star. Changing yarn thickness will also affect size of scarf.
Needles & Notions: Size 8 US / 5 mm straight needles for scarf or an appropriate size for chosen yarn. Size 6 US/ 4mm circular needle or needle 2 sizes smaller than needle for scarf. Stitch marker, scrap yarn or two stitch holders, wool roving or stuffing for heart or star, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 17 stitches and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch
Construction Notes: Heart and star are most easily worked with Magic Loop technique on one long circular needle. It is also possible to work it on double pointed needles. |
