Mitts: 7 ½ to 9”/19.5 to 23 cm circumference to fit an average woman’s hand
Yarn: 2 skeins ShibuiKnits Merino Alpaca (50% baby alpaca, 50% merino; 132 yd/121 m per 3 ½ oz oz/100 g) in Ink and embroidered in Blossom, Ivory, Rapids, and Wasabi. Both the hat and the mitts can be completed with 2 skeins total of Merino Alpaca. The hat takes just over one skein (some knitters may be able to complete it with one skein only); the mitts take about three fourths of a skein. The embroidery may be done with the same yarn or stash yarns; 2-3 yards of each color should be more than enough to complete the motifs as shown.
Needles & Notions: size 8 US (5 mm) 16" (40 cm) circular and size 8 (5 mm) dpns for hat; size 7 US (4.5 mm) dpns and size 5 (3.75 mm) needles for mitts; stitch marker; tapestry needle
Gauge: Hat - 24 sts and 24 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in rib pattern, slightly stretched; Mitts - 28 sts and 28 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in k1, p1 rib, slightly stretched
